Rolled Sugar Cookies

Make amazing rolled sugar cookies from scratch at high altitude.

Ingredients

2 cups sugar
1 1/2 cups softened butter
4 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
5 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt

Directions

In large bowl, combine sugar and butter and cream together until smooth. Mix in eggs and vanilla. Slowly add the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt and mix well. Cover and chill the dough in the refrigerator for 1 hour (or overnight).

Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).

Line cookie sheets with parchment paper. Roll out dough to a 1/4 = 1/2 inch thickness on a floured surface. Cut into shapes with your favorite cookie cutters. Place cookies 1 inch apart on the parchment lined cookie sheets.

Bake 7-9 minutes. Let cool completely before decorating.
